Baptiste Hilbert originates from a small Belgian town on the Luxembourgish border called Arlon.
He began his dancing training at the age of 10 with Nicole Aimont.
At the end of his secondary education, he decided to pursue his passion for dance at a professional level, studying in Montpelier at Epsedanse school for three years.
After completing his studies in Montpelier, he decided to continue his training in contemporary dance in the UK, as part of Verve13, the graduate company of Northern Contemporary Dance School, in Leeds. It was here that he first worked professionally in pieces choreographed by Ben Wright, James Wilton, Frauke Requardt and Angus Balbernie, touring England, Scotland and Switzerland.
He completed his studies at Ballet Junior de Genève, based in Switzerland. During this year he performed repertory pieces such as ‘Monger’ by Barak Marshall, ‘In your Rooms’ by Hofesh Shechter, ‘Six Years Later’ by Roy Asaf, ‘Merry Go Round’ by Compagnie 7273 and ‘Weight and Think’ by Gabin Corredor and Oscar Sanchez. These pieces toured in France and Switzerland in 2013-2014.
During his studies Baptiste also worked with other choreographers and teachers such as Stijn Celis, Roy Assaf, Anne-Marie Porras, Rudy Bryans, Salia Sa-nou, Jasmin Vardimon, Gilles Jobin, Bruno Guillore, Larrio Ekson, Leila McMillan and Christopher Evans amongst others.
In 2015 Baptiste performed in Portugal in the piece ‘Deuses e Demónios’ by choreographer Benvido da Fonseca, and in Luxembourg with choreographer Jill Crovisier. He has also worked with Saeed Hani, Sarah Baltzinger and Anu Sistonen.
As a choreographer in his own right Baptiste created his first piece ‘As you want’ with AWA in April 2016 with the support of TROIS C-L, the Luxembourgish centre for choreographic creation. His second work with AWA ‘With my eyes’ premièred in Luxembourg in May 2017, also supported by TROIS C-L.
